There’s something about standing at the edge of a shoreline that resets everything. The noise in your head, the weight on your shoulders \u2014 it all dissolves with the first crash of a wave against your feet. I’ve been lucky enough to find a few beaches that didn’t just impress me \u2014 they changed<\/em> me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Railay Beach, Thailand<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Accessible only by boat, Railay feels like a secret the ocean decided to share with you personally. Towering limestone cliffs frame powdery white sand, and the water shifts between shades of emerald and turquoise depending on the time of day. I spent three days here and genuinely considered never leaving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The best part? No roads, no cars, no rush. Just the sound of long-tail boats puttering in the distance and the occasional monkey stealing your mango smoothie. Paradise has a sense of humour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navagio Beach, Greece<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Also known as Shipwreck Beach, Navagio is the kind of place that looks fake in photos \u2014 until you’re standing on it. A rusted cargo ship sits beached on blindingly white sand, surrounded by vertical cliff walls and the most impossibly blue water you’ve ever seen. Getting here requires a boat from Zakynthos, which only adds to the adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pro Tip:<\/strong> Visit early morning before the tour boats arrive. You’ll have the shipwreck practically to yourself, and the light is absolutely magical for photos.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

What to Pack for a Beach Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  • Reef-safe sunscreen (protect the ocean that protects your sanity)<\/li>
  • A good book \u2014 nothing pairs better with waves than words<\/li>
  • Dry bag for electronics (learned this one the hard way)<\/li>
  • Snorkel gear \u2014 the world beneath the surface is half the story<\/li>
  • An open mind and zero plans<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
